Geoarchaeological Investigations. Characterizing natural buried geomorphological strata and environments in relation to potential cultural and prehistoric human inhabitation and anthropogenic influences in paleoenvironments. Coordination with archaeological investigations per NYS. Recognized by NYS and PA to Perform Geoarchaeological Investigations for the State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO). Investigations include geomorphological analysis of soils, pollen, mollusca, insecta, x-ray fluorescence, carbon dating, phosphorus, optical stimulated luminescence (OSL), and total organic carbon analysis. Utilize field and lab techniques including petrological and micrological identification. Characterize soil strata orientation, clastic analysis, and soil particle analysis.

Urban and Industrial archaeological indicators including structures and persistent indicators.

Early (typically Woodland Period or later) habitation including old roads, settlements, homes, foundations, implements, burial sites.

Significant site-specific geoarchaeological conditions.

Paleontological Analysis.  Sampling, analysis, and identification of fossils and pollen and radiocarbon dating.

Geoarchaeological investigations are performed in accordance with state historic preservation offices in conjunction with archaeological investigations.

Archaeological Geomorphology.  Historical soils and strata development including identification of geoarchaeological and archaeological anthropogenic evidence in post-Wisconsin glacial period strata based on vertical soil stratigraphy into groundwater and to shallow bedrock formations.
